Edinburg North sophomore San Juanita Leal accomplished what few sophomores in South Texas are able to do. That's win the RGVCCCA Meet of Champions elite race. Elite races are mostly dominated by upperclass runner even in the girls races.
However, Leal was able to ride her momentum of improvement that she has been able to put together this season to get the win and do it in PR fashion.
She started her high school career last year with a 25 minute 5K race. This weekend, she ran 18:57 to show how much she has improved.
