Baytown Sterling Runner Jania Tatum-Scott Found Slain

A Texas high school track and field athlete was found dead in a neighborhood park in Baytown, Texas. Jania Tatum-Scott (Baytown Sterlingwas discovered by police in Tejas Park around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday Morning. 

Tejas Park is less than a block away from the 15-year old sophomore's home. Scott suffered two gunshot wounds in her torso and was pronounced dead at the scene. The case is being treated as a homicide and is under investigation as police are searching for Scott's killer.

Scott competed for Sterling HS where she had her best meet at the Rockhold Relays where she went 15-6 in the long jump, 4-8 in the high jump, and  29.18 in the 200m.

She competed in cross county this fall at the Clear Lake Falcon Invitational and the Galveston Island Beach Run.
