US No. 3 Hurdler Alexander Chuckwukelu Talks About His Rise

Alexander Chuckwukelu (Forney) entered last weekend as the top hurdler in the country. After the weekend that was an all out attack on the national rankings by athletes from the lower 48 states, he is still ranked US No. 3 in the 60 meter hurdles. Chuckwukelu is pretty much a new name to track and field fans, but there is no doubt he is here for the 2023 indoor and outdoor season and he will be a force to be reckoned with.

Competing for Major Impact, his track and field club team, he has been on fire and has dropped an elite time every preliminary and each finals race. Previously, Chuckwukelu's PR was 8.13, but this season he has run 7.80 and 7.83 at the The Galleria Games and this past weekend, he ran 7.82 and 7.85 at the Arkansas High School Invitational.

We spoke with Chuckwukelu and his Major Impact coaches Coach Candy Francios and Coach RJ James. They gave us some insight on his rise to prominence, his hunger and motivation to be his best, as well as his future plans and where he finds his joy of competing.
