Elizabeth Leachman ran to a 16:30 win in the Girls Gold race

As expected, it was Elizabeth Leachman taking off from the sound of the gun. She did what we've grown accustomed to when she runs - - do her thing whether someone goes with her or not.
The Boerne Champion sophomore was able to sustain the early hard pace she established and finished to the tune of a US No. 1 5,000m performance and personal best at 16:30.
Kathryn Koonts finishes runner-up in the Girls Gold race

Kathryn Koonts and San Juanita Leal were two of the leaders of the chase pack throughout the race. Koonts, the Klein senior would pull away from Leal for a 17:48 run with the Edinburg North senior finishing up in 18:02.
Rounding out the top five would be Margaret Thompson (Hockaday) in fourth place with a time of 18:13, and Cadence Patterson (Comal Canyon Lake) getting in for fifth in 18:19.
