A week ago, indoor national 400m high school record holder Quincy Wilson clocked two 44-second 4x400m splits within five hours at Penn Relays, which got everyone on their feet inside Franklin Field.

On Saturday in Landover, Maryland at the PUMA East Coast International Showcase, Bullis School (MD) sophomore Wilson set a new lifetime 400m best of 45.17 -- a mark that moves him up to U.S. No. 8 all-time at the distance.

Toeing the line under cool and rainy conditions against top competition including Jamaican talents, Nicholas Spikes of Paint Branch (MD) and Jayden Horton-Mims of Imhotep Institute Charter (PA), Wilson was able to sprint to the nation's fastest time of 2024 and climb up the all-time list.

It was Wilson's second open 400m performance of the season, having opened up his season at Florida Relays in 45.19.

Horton-Mims finished with a U.S. No. 4 mark of 45.82 while Spikes was third with a 47.29.
