SATURDAY: Liz Costello pulled off a huge PR in taking 5th in a stack 1500, running 4:29.36, which converts to approximately a 4:47.36 Mile.
FRIDAY: Last Saturday, Easton sophomore Chanelle Price said if she had someone push her, she could run 2:06. Today she did, chasing two college freshmen to run a 2:06.23 and finish 3rd in the 800 finals. The winning time was 2:05.05. In the finals of the 400 Hurdles, Ryann Krais capped her amazing weekend with a 7th place finish, running 1:0.49. West Catholic grad and UCLA freshman Nicole Leach set a meet record in winning in 55.63. In the postponed Pole Vault, Easton's Lindsay Regan cleared 12-07.50 and finished 3rd. In the Triple Jump, Clarence Smith (Penn State/Coatesville) was 4th, leaping 49-09.25. Eric Jones (Pittsburgh/Gateway) leapt 45-01 for 10th. Laurel Highlands junior Breehana Jacobs did not advance from the prelims of the 200, finishing 14th in 24.26. This afternoon, Ryann Krais, one day after setting the all-time sophomore class record in the Heptathlon, is in the finals of the 400 Hurdles. In the Triple Jump, Bradford senior Erin Hannon was 13th with a leap of 38-01.50, and then later took 9th in the High Jump at 5-05..

THURSDAY: It was PR after PR on day one, but on day two, adding the 400 Hurdles open race to the three other closing events of the Heptathlon, Ryann Krais slipped to 4th after the first event of the day, a 17-07 Long Jump, way below her best. That was followed by her first-ever Javelin, where she held her own and dropped just one more spot to 5th. She then closed out her first Heptathlon with a 2:24.46 in the 800 to finish 5th overall with 5138 points... a US Sophomore Class Record! It also makes her the 16th best prep individual in the event of all time. She did advance to the finals of the 400 Hurdles. Amy Backel (Oklahoma/Northern York) had the best throw of the Heptathlon at 136-07 and would finish 9th with 4583 points. Nicole Leach, UCLA (West Catholic) had the fastest qualifer in the 400 Hurdles of 57.84. Penn State's Ryan Fritz (Octorara) cleared 7-01.50 and took 2nd on misses from Juan Cave of Georgia Tech (St. Joseph's Prep), taking 3rd at the same height. In the Javelin, Amy Backel, who also competed in the Heptathlon, was 4th with a throw of 149-04, while Karlee McQuillen, Westmont Hilltop, was 5th with a throw of 147-08. Pittsburgh's Michael Wray, a Central (Philly) grad, advances in the 110 Hurldes, winning his heat with the 2nd best time of the day, a 13.59, and then took 6th in the final in 13.72. Center's Lindsay Dolan did not start in the 100 Hurdles trials. In the Decathlon, Princeton's Duane Hynes was in 2nd place with two eventsw left. But in the final event, the 1500, Hynes was beaten by 14 seconds and slipped to third with a very strong 7108 points. Alex Holcombe Germantown Academy, finished 12th with 6283. In the 100 Dash, Breehana Jacobs of Laurel Highlands, did not advance to the finals after posting the 12th best time of 11.71. In the 800 Prelims, Easton sophomore Chanelle Price drew the same heat as West Catholic's Latavia Thomas and outsprinter her PA rival and the rest of her heat in going 2:12.72 to advance to the finals on Friday. In the Shot Put, state champ and NON runner-up Allyn Laughlin, Center, finished 4th with a throw of
47-11.25. Hempfield's Samantha Fetter was 11th.
WEDNESDAY: WIth a hurdles of 14.08, a PR high jump of 5-06.25, a 32-06.25 PR in the Shot Put, and a 200 dash o 24.53, Methacton sophomore Ryann Krais leads the USATF Junior Nationals by 37 points over Shana Woods of California. Former Northen York star Amy Backel, now at Oklahoma, is in 16th position. Backel had the best Shot Put of the group, throwing 41-09.75. Thursday will tell the tale, with the Long Jump, Javelin and 800 Meter Run determining the top two who have a chance to compete in China representing the USA. In the Juniors Decathlon, Central Bucks South grad Duane Hynes, now at Princeton, is in 3rd place with 4615 points, 146 out of first. Alex Holcombe, Germantown Academy, is in 14th.
