Athlete Quotes from Schuler, Young, Fuller and Miller

For a moment, it appeared Fuller would pull it out, but a smart move at the finish gave Miller the win.

Manheim Township sophomore Craig Miller didt't surprise anyone today. But he still went out and topped his own meet record against top senior Brian Fuller of Cumberland Valley.

Miller went out hard and took a commanding 30 meter lead before the mile, but the experienced Fuller, running his own race, worked his way back before two miles and hoped to outkick the younger harrier like he did at States in 2002 when both received the same time, going 4th and 5th. But Miller won this dual and broke his course record of 15:58 he had run last year. (Twin Brad has resumed training following a fractured foot, and expects to race again by the end of September.)

In the girls Varsity A race, junior Janelle Young of Cedar Cliff ran much of the way stride-for-stride with senior Kylee Schuler of Chambersburg, winning in 18:44.

The boys small school race was won by Andrew Montgomery of George Mason, VA in 16:35, while Lancaster Mennonite frosh Shertzer, Lindsey held off senior teammate Kristen Groff by four seconds to win in 20:03.

Janelle Young says she's in as much pain as any other runner, but at the finish, she sure appears happy.
