Collegiate meet at Princton 4/6 has PA flavor | McNally sets 3200 school record in the wind

Conestoga HS coach Ryan Comstock took a side trip to Princeton on Friday April 6th to see his former star Liz Costello, now a freshman at Princeton. He also got to see quite a few former high school standouts, a few who are now running as post- collegiate athletes. And in Lebanon on Monday April 9, Conestoga Valley junior Vince McNally survived the wind to set a school record in the 3200.

At Princeton, Costello finished 2nd in the Elite Women's 1500, running 4:30.90, just .79 out of first. The time was just off her 2006 USATF Junior Nationals PR. Her 800 split on Friday was under 2:31. Comstock also reports the following times for other PA athletes (the ones he recognized)...

Joe Wiegner (Council Rock North HS - graduate of Lock Haven U.) - 3:54.35 1500 (7th)

Shiela Klick (Archbishop Prendergast - graduate of LaSalle U.) - 4:36.74 1500 (5th)

Karl Dusen (Central Buck East - graduate of Columbia U.- 14:11.97 (1st)

Curtis Bixler (Cumberland Valley - freshman at Syracuse U.) 9:15.79 Steeplechase (6th)

Renee Gunning (Pennridge - graduate of North Carolina State U.) 16:27.86 5000 (1st)

Claire Duncan (Germantown Friends coach) 17:24.18 5000 (14th)

On Monday night April 9th, Conestoga Valley junior Vince McNally ran 9:24.8 on a very windy night to win the 3200. The mark eclipses the school record of 9:38.7, set last year by Kenny George.

PRIMED FOR THE TASK - McNally ready to go the distance with L-L's best... by Kevin Freeman of the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal

On Tuesday, April 10, Wissahickon junior Nick Crits ran 9:34.4 for 3200 in a dual meet at Cheltenham in the cold, wind and admist diesel fumes from nearby Route 309 construction. It's just three seconds off the school's junior class record. Crits led off the 3/31 PA Track Classic DMR with a #2 all-time 3:07.7 1200.
