Charlie Kern Jr. nearly led the York (IL) boys from a 6th place finish at Illinois State Meet to a nearly national meet berth the following weekend. The freshmen has a bright future individually as well with cross country season bests of 15:22 for 5K and 14:36 for 3 miles.
