Downingtown West, Lasalle boys make US top 50 list based on 1600 meter times!

Downingtown West boys are a big favorite to become AAA state champions on November 7. They could have five sub 16 minute runners on the team by the end of the season, a feat that is rare in our sport.

But that quality was put to the test in a simulated cross country meet against the rest of the country based on 1600 meter personal bests. The end result was a 6th place finish with 413 points, 22 points off the top five. They rank as the top team in the Mid Atlantic and Northeast regions!

AAA 1600 meter champion Jaxson Hoey leads the way with his 4:11.47 performance that won him the gold medal, his brother Josh (4:19.06), and Ryan Barton (4:18.09) are sub 4:20 runners, and Henry Sappey is a sub 4:25 runner. They are one of three teams on this list with three or more sub 4:20 runners.

Lasalle also made this list at number 48, a good sign for a squad that is looking to defend their District 12 championship. Patrick Grant is the lone 4:30 guy on the list and is also one of three seniors.
