Friends League champion Jerrica Bauer of George School will go head to head with Inter-Ac champion Abbe Goldstein of Germantown Academy in what should be an epic battle for the championship. In their one head to head matchup, Bauer defeating Goldstein by one place at the George School Invitational in September. Both runners will record good times on the Belmont Plateau course and both will relish in having a rival side by side for an entire 5k race. May the best girl win!
As for the team title chase, Friends Central will look to get the best of Germantown Friends for the 2nd time in 11 days. Friends Central won the Friends League title meet thanks to a good top three. Gabby Wilkinson and Emily Burd will lead the way. Sarah Walker will lead GFS. Other contenders include Inter-Ac Champions Notre Dame, who defeated Germantown Academy by one point on Monday. Both teams will look to have another strong meet to upend their Friends League contenders.
Boys
Nick Dahl of Germantown Friends has been dominant in all of his 5000 meter competitions this season, with his latest performance being a 15:48 solo effort at the Friends League Championship. Gabriel Allgayer of Mercersburg Academy finished 6th at this meet last season, and he is coming off a Paul Short White race win. Grayson Hepp of Germantown Friends and Inter-Ac champion Colin Wills of Malvern Prep will battle for top three positions.
Germantown Friends will be favored to win the team title after their solid 2015 season. They were victorious at the George School Invite and they finished 3rd at the Bowdoin Classic in late September. They have four sub 17 minute runners, more than any other squad. Mercersburg Academy and Inter-Ac champions Malvern Prep will aim to cause an upset.
