Central Mouintain's Kristin Brandt moved into the top in in the U.S. with a triple jump of 38-07.50 and solidified her PA#2 with a long jump of 17-11.75.


 

2/23 Friends' Central/ Germantown Friends Invitational

The 800 meter run was a close finish with 3 sub-2 performances and an upset victory. Ben Hatch, Bellwood Antis, out-dueled 2 Footlocker Finalists for the victory in a time of 1:58.52. Vince McNally was 2nd with a time of 1:59.02, and Chris Aldrich was 3rd in 1:59.20. Germantown Friends won the DMR in a PA #3 time of 10:31.70. Friends Central finished 2nd in 10:51.02. Bishop McDevitt's Joe Beveridge went sub-9, winning the 3000 with a time of 8:57.84. The Lower Merion duo of Ben Furcht and Neal Berman finished 2nd and 3rd respectively with times of 9:07.77 and 9:09.63. Chestnut Hill Academy won the 800 meter relay in 1:33.17. Archbishop Carroll won the 1600 meter relay in 3:31.72.

PERFORMANCE LIST

Headlining at the Friends' meet will be an 800 with five sub-two guys, led by Foot Locker Finalists Vince McNally and Chris Aldrich. And Germantown Friends will put a hot DMR on the track, anchored by Max Kaulbach.

2/23 Kevin Dare High School Invitational

Ryann Krais won the 200, 24.76, won the HJ in 5-04, 2nd in 400, 56.35. Conestoga dual in the mile, Kacie O'Neil wins in 5:09.68, Megan Deakins 2nd in 5:10.68 (Taking a brief break after their fast miles - Photo by Ryan Comstock). Alysha Cook won the 60 hurdles in 8.84. Harrisburg ran 1:45.18 for 3rd in 800 relay. Conestoga won a quick 1600 meter relay in 3:58.38. Methacton was 2nd in 4:01.48. Karen Shump won the shot put in 48-05.

Juan Steward ran a US #2 200 meter time of 21.67 in winning the event. Alex Kenney, State College, ran a time of 21.91 and is now US #10. Aaron Nadolsky won the 400 dash in 49.35. J.C. Rizzo won the 800 with a quick time of 1:57.97. Neshaminy won the 800 relay in a fast time of 1:30.00. Harrisburg is now ranked US #5 in the 1600 meter relay with a swift time of 3:21.35. Carlton Lavong won the long jump with a leap of 23-00.75. Dan Kwiatkowski won the shot with a put of 62-10.

In State College, Ryann Krais of Methacton, and Karen Shump of Penncrest will get ready for next week's state champs.

2/23 Marietta College HS Open Meet #3

RESULTS POSTED

Kristie Domis, Baldwin, won the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:46.32. The shot put was won by Hempfield's Patrice Thompson, who threw the shot 36-01.50. Baldwin's boys team won the 3200 meter relay with a time of 8:18.10.

2/23 TFCAGP Last Chance Meet

North Penn ran a PA #2 time in the 1600 relay of 3:24.47. The time places them behind Harrisburg's 3:21.35, and #13 on the US list. The 800 meter run featured 4 sub-2 minute performances. Chris Pregler, CB West, won the race with a time of 1:57.51. North Penn's Justin Bookheimer was 2nd in 1:57.78. Mike Palmisano, Upper Dublin, was 3rd in 1:58.35, and Oliver Dugas, CB East, was 4th in 1:59.98. Archbishop Ryan won a very competitive DMR in a time of 10:40.26. Saint Joseph's Prep was 2nd with a time of 10:40.50 and Council Rock North finished 3rd in 10:41.93. LaSalle's Greg Barksdale won the high jump with a leap of 6-06.

 

2/23-24 USATF National Championships

Chanelle Price finished 12th in 2:08.39 and will not advance to the finals on Sunday. Georganne Way, Indiana Elite, finished 13th in 2:08.47. She was a 2003 Warwick Valley grad who won the 2003 AAA state title in the 800. Hyleas Fountain, a 2000 Central Dauphin East grad, won the long jump championship (in PennTrackXC photo).

 

2/24 Kent State HS Open #3

RESULTS POSTED

Weston Schaa, Mercer Area, took home a pair of victories from Kent State, winning the high jump with a leap of 6-06 and the 55 hurdles with a time of 8.10. Peters Township's Christian Brandstetter won the 800 meter run with a swift 1:58.82. Kacey Gibson, Neshannock, won the mile run with a time of 5:17.28.

Weekend Preview Notes: We have a performance list posted for the Friends' Center/Germantown Friends Invitational, a meet program with school listing for the Kevin Dare HS Invitational at Penn State University, plus an athlete list on Sunday's Kent State HS Open #3. Headlining at the Friends' meet will be an 800 with five sub-two guys, led by Foot Locker Finalists Vince McNally and Chris Aldrich. And Germantown Friends will put a hot DRM on the track, anchored by Max Kaulbach. In State College, Ryann Krais of Methacton, and Karen Shump of Penncrest will get ready for next week's state champs. At Kent State on Sunday, Neshannock's Kacey Gibson tunes up for states. And in Boston, Easton 800-meter star Chanelle Price will compete in her 2nd USATF Championships against the pros. Prelims are Saturday afternoon, with Finals Sunday. I'll be on-site for my first-ever USATF Champs. The Pennsylvania Track & FIeld Coaches Association reminds coaches that State meet entries are still due NO LATER THAN 11:59 PM on 2/23. Email/fax them to Ron Lopresti (610-631-0382 / ronlop@msn.com) and also register them on Direct Athletics. Many schools have not yet done either.
