Jake Brophy of Central Bucks East closed out an excellent high school cross country career on Saturday at Balboa Park in San Diego. The senior ran 15:21 to finish in eighth place, the highest finish by a PA boy in 16 years. He's won two District One AAA titles, two AAA state titles and earned two berths in Foot Locker Nationals. It's been quite a run for Brophy. After his top ten finish, Brophy talked with MileSplit about the race's fast start and coming back to get eighth at the end. "I'm very happy," he said afterwards. "Drew Hunter is a talent," he added, speaking about the race winner from Virginia, who ran away with the win.
