Friday night at Lehigh, usually reserved for the girls of the Greater Philadelphia area, belonged to the boys this week. It was the TFCAofGP Last Chance Meet. It was an exciting night that saw a number of meet records go down.
The night started off with a hot DMR. Pennridge and CB West battled it out, with Pennridge claiming a narrow victory. Pennridge's Tucker Desko ran a 4:19-20 anchor 1600m leg to beat out Rock Fortna of CB West, who ran a 4:21 1600m as the anchor.
Downingtown West brought a hot 4x200. The Whippets won by a second and a half at 1:31.87, a great time on a flat track.
Mason Weh turned it up in the 60m hurdles. Weh ran a PA#1 by .25 just missing out on breaking 8 seconds. His 8.00 solidifies him as the favorite for states in two weeks. Watch Weh's post-race interview below:
Imhotep's Kristian Marche continues to make big statements this season. Marche came away the winner in the 60 meters with a time of 6.99, narrowly making him just the third PA sprinter to eclipse the 7 second mark.
Wissahickon's Yondell Dudley had a big perofrmance in the shot put. Dudley threw 55-8 for the win, moving him up to PA#6. That's a big PR for Dudley, whose previous PR from outdoors was 50-5.
A couple of big PA distance running names clashed in the 800. Josh Hoey and Jake Brophy delivered on an exciting race. Hoey came out out top beating out Brophy. Hoey's time was 1:58.24.
Council Rock South's Joe Maguire cruised to a win in the 3000, breaking the meet record previous held by Brophy. Maguire betters his time from this track at Burdette from December. Watch his interview after his race:
Hatboro-Horsham's Nick Marino cleared 14-6 yet again to win the pole vault and keep up his winning streak. Pennridge's Matt Moyer took home first in the high jump, clearing 6-4.
William Tennent's Stephen Testa moved up to PA#2 in the long jump with a jump of 22-2.75 to take the win. The man he supplanted in the state rankings in the long jump, won the triple jump. Caleb Appiah-Owusu won the triple jump at 43-9.25.
