Mansaray leads an open field into the 400

One of the more wide open events of the day will be the 400. Agnes Mansaray of Penn Wood is the top seed after a 55.19 for second in a loaded race at The Armory for the Hispanic Games. She's had a fantastic indoor season to this point, proving to be one of the state's most versatile athletes. But Mansaray took third in the 400 at the PTFCA Carnival on February 13. The winner of that race may be the one to watch on Sunday. That would be Uche Nwogwugwu of North Penn. She was fifth a year ago and she's won the last three quarter miles she's entered, most recently at the DVGTCA Meet of Champions.

Brooklynn Broadwater of Springside Chestnut Hill hasn't raced since January, but she should still be considered a threat, if healthy, to try and defend her title from last year. The speed was there. That much we found out after a 56.40 at the Hispanic Games. What can she bring to the table Sunday? She's the wild card of the field.

Cheltenham's Alexis Crosby was third at indoor states last year, and she's had another great season to this point. She's already run faster than her bronze medal time in 2015, so Crosby could be looked at as one of the frontrunners. General McLane's Bethany Evankovich and Central Valley's Maiah Yankello will look to mix it up in the front as well in a deep field.

This won't be a race to miss on Sunday at Penn State.
