AAA Boys' 400m Preview
St. Joseph's Prep's Miles Green enters this weekend as the PA#1 by nearly a second, but the junior was upset by Imhotep's Ade Jones-Roundtree at the District 12 Championships. Green, however, was a busy man at the PCL Champs on Monday (date moved because of weather), so the quick turnaround left some heaviness in his legs for that final. Those two enter state as the top two seeds. Jones-Roundtree is running very well as of late and he can certainly put together another good race this weekend.
Another great district final was in the WPIAL, as Ambridge Area's Isaac Elliott nipped Norwin's Nicholas Coleman. Those two should figure into the equation at the state level. Elliott ran a best of 46.64. Coleman, meanwhile, has seen one of this year's greatest improvements since last year.
Milton Hershey's Austin Padmore should factor in. He was second to Aaron Arp at District 3, but Arp has decided to focus on other events. Lower Merion's Rashon Cooke won the District 1 title, running a 48.5 in the prelims and he should be up there. CR North's Michael Welde, Grove City's Molek Walker, and Wallenpaupack's Chad Vasey should contend for a spot in the finals.
One quarter miler we can't forget is Nate Alleyne of Bishop Shanahan. Alleyne was the indoor state champ in the winter and dropped a 48.8 in the prelims at districts. But a Friday night prom, took a little something out of his legs. That won't be the case this weekend and Alleyne will contend for an outdoor state crown.
