25th Pennsylvania Track Classic R
Great Valley
Athletes of the meet included solo efforts in the field and shared honors on the track.
Methacton's Wesley Lavong hit a PR of 62-3 in the shot put, but the mark was more than likely longer, because his effort hit the base of a tree about 2 feet from the ground. The officials rightfully measured from the base of the tree. Can everyone say 65? The mark was a meet record. He added a 169-9 win the Discus, as well.
Engineering & Science senior Ramaan Ansley went 10.90 to win the 100. He also anchored the winning 4x100 to a 43.72 and 4x400 relays to a 3:23.06, narrowly beating Upper Dublin.. Bradford's Tyree Bennett won the 110 hurdles in 14.71 and 39.34 to capture the 300 hurdles, and added a 6-4 clearance in a High Jump win. He was 4th in the Triple Jump, going 42-8.50.
Penn Wood senior Brittany Wallace went 25:00 to take the 200 and set a meet record of 56.47 to take the 400. Plymouth-Whitemarsh senior Katie Gorman anchored her team with a 5:22 1600 to defend their DMR title in 12:49.54, and out-dualed Notre Dame's Maria Seykora in the 3200 in 11:23.83.
Methacon sophomore Gabby Becattine won two events, taking the Long Jump at 16-10.75 and the Triple Jump at 36-03.
Souderton's Kristin Smith cleared 5-7 in the High Jump.
Carlton Lavong, Methacton, went 44-7 in the Triple Jump and 23-03.50 in the Long Jump.
Methacton sophomore Mel Leszcynski threw a PA #1 Javelin of 122-08.
What used to be a low-key weekend, has become as crowded as any with at least 12 invitational on tap. And it's the big 25th anniversary for the PTFCA's Pennsylvania Track Classic.
