The Affolder brothers made some history at Van Cortlandt Park last season. The Carlisle duo, in their first and only season as Pennsylvania residents, came across the line first and second at the Foot Locker Northeast Regional in the Bronx.
That result qualified both for Foot Locker Nationals in San Diego, but moreover, asserted the family's dominance on the big stage. Noah Affolder took the win for a second straight year, running 15:28. Younger brother Sam Affolder went 15:36 for second place. Noah is now a freshman at Syracuse University, while Sam and the rest of the family moved south and he now attends Loudoun Valley as part of one of the nation's top teams.
Last year, the Keystone State also got two other national qualifiers in Nathan Henderson (J.P. McCaskey) and Zach Skolnekovich (Quaker Valley). On Saturday, a number of Pennsylvania runners should be in the mix for the top ten, which qualifies them for Foot Locker Nationals in San Diego.
