Last year Sam Affolder was helping his Carlisle squad become of the Pennsylvania's best. This year, as a member of Loudoun Valley in Virginia, he was hoisting a national championship trophy.
Affolder, of course, transferred from Carlisle to Loudoun Valley in the summer. His father is in the Army and the family frequently changes locations. He was with Carthage (NY) High as a freshman. On Saturday at Nike Cross Nationals, Affolder placed 23rd overall in the boys' race in Portland, helping his new team to a national title.
