83rd Shippensburg University Invitational

Alysha Cook wasn't even going to run today due to a injured arch. But she wasn't going to pass up her last chance to leave a mark at this prestigious meet. With wins in the 100 hurdles, 14.71, the 400, 57.60, the 300 hurdles, 44.99(PA #2), and the 200, 25.44, Alysha left quite an impression on those who watched her compete. Despite her talent Alysha takes nothing for granted, even assuming that she had lost her specialty, the 300 hurdles, and accepted the defeat graciously. Alysha was by all measures the athlete of the meet.
Kevin Hull, Hempfield, left his own kind of impression on the mid-distance fields in the boys AAA competition. A trail of flames followed Hull around the track as he unleashed a monster 57 second last lap to close the 1600 with a PA #1 time of 4:16.91, an incredible time considering the race went out in 2:13 at the 800 meter mark. The same scorching kick again torchered the competition in the 800 with Hull running a PA #1 1:54.71.
Robert Micikas, Crestwood, shattered the meet record in the AAA 3200 run with a blistering early season time of 9:13.66. Running solo most of the way Micikas focused on his pace to keep up the effort that was required to run such a time. Micikas looked comfortable as he rounded the track each lap which is a good sign leading up to next weeks 3k at the Penn Relays.
Chloe Schmidt won the girls AAA 800 meter run with style and a huge PA #1 time of 2:12.22. Schmidt also anchored her State College team to victory in the 4x400 with a time of 4:01.18.
Altoona boys took control of the relays, as has become typical in meets they attend, winning the both the 4x100 and 4x400. Altoona blistered the tartan in the 4x100, running a new PA #1 time of 41.92. In the 4x400 a time of 3:19.40 was good enough for another PA #1 time and the teams first sub-3:20 clocking of the season.
Cumberland Valley won the 4x800 with a PA #1 time of 7:54.51 and Carlisle was 2nd with a PA #2 time of 7:59.86.
In the field Justin Shirk, Central Dauphin, won the javelin with a 207-11 throw to take over as the PA #1 in the event.
Lamont Fowler, Conrad Weiser, left little mystery in the 400 meter dash outcome as he rocketed his way to a PA #1 time of 48.62.
Brady Gehret, Altoona, won the 200 meter dash with a new PA #1 time of 21.71, making it look easy as he leaves everyone else in his wake.
Mike Brown, Lower Dauphin, came up short in the 110 meter hurdles but found redemption in the 300 hurdles, which he rocked with a PA #1 time of 38.03.
Erin Guty, Trinity, won the long jump with a leap of 18-02.75.
Kelsey Seymour won two AA titles. The first was a big PR in the 1600 meter run of 5:11 and then she came back in the 800 to win with a time of 2:20.61.
Corey Young, Waynesboro, surprised Brown in the 110 hurdles with a winning time of 14.66.
Todd Postie, Milton Area, won the pole vault with a AA meet record of 14-07.
Joe Beveridge set a new meet record in the AA 3200 meter run with a time of 9:26.99. Beveridge also won the AA 1600 with a time of 4:22.53.
