Five first's for PA at the Penn Relays -Three relays that make national statements.
Saturday Highlights:
Methacton's Carlton Lavong had two jumps over 24', including the winner of 24-6.50 - tied for US#6. Phoenixville's Kyriq Wlliams captured 2nd in the high jump, clearing 6-07.75.

Central Bucks South lived up to their own expectations and beat the pressure as they took 3rd in the Championship of America 4x800, running behind two national record-breaking team with their PA#2 all-time 7:36.93. Tom Mallon anchored in 1:49.17, the 2nd fastest on the day and the 5th fastest in Relay's history. It was the second state-best missed this year by CB South by less than a second. Henderson was 7th in 7:51.52, North Penn, 9th in 7:53.30, and Abington 10th in 7:56.74.
It was a long, but rewarding day for the Altoona guys. In the morning, they advanced to the COA of the 4x400, going 3:15.77 in the prelims. They would take 6th 3:18.06 in the final at the end of the day. Brady Gehret split 47.94 (timed FAT from baton passing the finish). In between, they would take 7th with PA#1 41.83 in the COA of the 4x100, having been the ONLY American team to advance, gaining the nod with their 42.17, just .01 better than an eighth Jamacian team.
In the other two featured 4x100 races (Small and Large schools), Cardinal O'Hara ran 42.32, Conrad Weiser (Small) went 42.37, and Penn Hills posted a 42.33.
In the Tri-State 4x100, Abington was 3rd in 47.99 and Central Bucks East, 4th in 48.00.
In the 4x400's trials, Abington bested Penncrest 3:16.60 to 3:18.19. In the Philly-area 4x400 finals, Abington ran 3:18.54, Chester 3:19.18, and Penncrest, 3:19.19.
The Abington girls went a PA#1 3:48.44 to win the Philly-area 4x400.
Earlier in the day, Toddrick Darden, Valley Forge Military Academy, took 8th in the 400 hurdles in 54.17.
In other field action, Cardinal O'Hara's Jason Johnson leapt 46-10 for 6th place to improve on his PA#2. Kennett's Blake Davenport throughthediscus 164-1 for 7th. And Council South's Brett Gilson cleared 13-09.25 for 10th in he pole vault.
Friday Highlights:
There were not PA guys in the Mile, but that didn't stop PA from dominating the other two featured races of the afternoon as Upper Dublin ran 10:08.48.

Two events later, Crestwood senior Robert Micikas shocked the Foot Locker champ and a strong field in the 3000, going 8:23.84 on a straighaway pass of Lower Merion's Ben Furcht - who had unleashed his kick with 250 to go, and finished 2nd in 8:24.72.
4x100:
Altoona boys ONLY American team to advance to the Championship of America with last spot behind 7 Jamacian teams. They beat out another Jamacian team by .01, going 42.17.
Javelin:
Justin Shirk, Central Dauphin, win Javelin on the last throw of 220-03.
4x800:
Central Bucks South (6th fastest qualifier), will be joined by Abington, Norther Penn and West Chester Henderson in Saturday's COA 4x800.
Shot Put: Wesley Lavong, Methaction, 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 61-11.75.
Discus:
Henderson's Shante Evans is 6th in the HS Girls Discus, 129-7
