4/7-Cumberland Valley\'s frosh distance crew is led by Abby Huber

Abby Huber (with baton), is the best of a group of freshman middle distance and distance runners coming up through the ranks at the strong Cumberland Valley program. Huber has a range from 400, 800, to 1600, and ran 2nd for the Eagles at the State PIAA XC Championships in Hershey after an attention-getting 18th place finish at the District 3 XC race the week before. Her 20:15.91 was 50 seconds faster than her time a week later in her first state competiton. At Bruce Dallas she ran a 2:28 split in the 4x800 (1st place), 2:31.89 in the open 800 (3rd place) and 1:04 split in the 4x400 (1st place). Her fastest times 400 so far is a 1:02 split indoor and 2:29.9 in the 800 at PSU indoor. Oh, and she high jumps, too. Her first effort in that event is today, April 7th. CV also has two other freshmen with state XC experience, Jamie Hillman and Samantha Fickel. (The girl in the background is Kristen Jones. She is a junior sprinter and hurdler. She placed 2nd in the 100m hurdles with a 16.20, 1st in the 300 hurdles in 47.20, split 1:03 in the 4x400 and was on the winning 4x100 relay.)
