Step aside Brady Gehret. The 200 meter Pennsylvania indoor state record now belongs to Austin Kratz.
The Dock Mennonite senior, who knocked on the doorstep of the all-time state best time a few weeks ago at Ocean Breeze, left no doubt about it at Sunday's SPIRE Scholastic Showcase in Geneva, Ohio. Kratz clocked a time of 21.04 to shatter Gehret's previous record of 21.22, which the Altoona Area runner set in 2010.
It's also a US#2 on the season for Kratz, who sits just behind national leader Brian Herron of Georgia, who ran 20.95 in December. Kratz got out of the blocks quick on the indoor 300-meter track at SPIRE and never slowed down, blasting through to the finish in the tenth fastest indoor time ever recorded by a high schooler in the event.

In the same race, North Allegheny's Ayden Owens ran the fourth fastest time in history to finish second. Owens ran a PA#2 21.35, which is also a current US#4.
