Kratz Flies To Arcadia Wins

Austin Kratz picked up right where he left off after the indoor season.

The Dock Mennonite senior made his trip to California and the Arcadia Invitational worth it by capturing a pair of wins in the sprints and running a pair of the fastest times in Pennsylvania state history.

Kratz started his night off by winning the 100 meters in 10.34 (T-US#4). Then he came back and capped off the meet with a win in the 200 meters, running a time of 20.74 (US#3). Kratz matched up in the 100 and 200 meters with another one of the nation's top sprinters, Eric Allen Jr. of Bullis School (MD), who he saw at indoor nationals. Kratz had the advantage once again.

Both times are huge personal bests for Kratz. His previous 100-meter PR was 10.66, while his 200-meter PR stood at 21.01 from win at indoor nationals.

According to our records, Kratz' 100-meter time is the third fastest in state history, behind just William Reed (10.0 hand-time in 1986) and Deworksi Odom (10.26 in 1994). In the 200 meters, it's the second fastest time in state history according to our records, behind just Clinton Davis' 20.29 from 1983.
