Starliper Runs 17:19 In Rain & Mud At D3 Champs

Marlee Starliper didn't let some rough conditions affect her at Saturday's PIAA District 3 Championships.

Not at all, in fact.

The Northern junior rolled to the win at Big Spring in the AA race in 17:19, breaking her own course record of 17:25, which she set at the district meet last year. Only this year, she had to deal with some less than ideal conditions.

A nor'easter wreaked havoc on the east coast on Saturday, leaving Big Spring -- an already challenging and hilly course -- a muddy mess for runners. Starliper didn't appear to have any issues with the conditions, powering home to the fastest 5K time in PA so far this season with a smile on her face as she crossed the finish line.

States comes next week, where Starliper will once again be the undisputed favorite in AA. What can she do for an encore?
