Salute To Seniors: Connor Vass-Gal (Wilmington)

Today, we salute Connor Vass-Gal. The Wilmington graduate closed out his career as a state champion, winning the AA shot put at the PIAA State Championships. Vass-Gal closed out his impressive career in the throws with personal bests of 66-6.75 in the shot put and 163-2 in the discus. He is bound for Youngstown State in the fall.

Vass-Gal reflected on his career for PennTrackXC below.


What was your most memorable race/competition?

My favorite competition was definitely senior year when I threw 66'6.75 at my district meet 


Where did you face your biggest competition?

I faced my biggest competition junior year indoor states battling Jeff Kline.



Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most?

Definitely winning states senior year.

 

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your athletic career in high school?

If I could do it over again I would change the mental aspect of the sport.



What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

The most difficult obstacle was definitely losing a year of track and field.



What will you miss the most?





I will miss the people who have been supporting.

 

Do you have any advice for younger athletes? 





My advice to the younger athletes is to be the best that you can be and always have fun at what you do.


How have your coaches influenced your performances and your life goals overall?

My coaches have influenced me to be great and to keep pushing the limits.


What are your post-high school plans?

I will be attending Youngstown State University to continue Track and Field.

I would like to shout out my friends for always pushing me to be the best I can be in the circle
