  • 2020 Team Champions: Emmaus - 39 points

Individuals Breakdown

After winning two straight D11-AAA titles, Emily Jobes of Liberty has graduated, meaning we'll get a new champion in the district this season. The race for the top spot should be a close one, too.

Lauren Meinhold of Southern Lehigh is the top returner from the district meet last year. She took third in D11-AAA before placing 61st at states. Hailey Reinhard of Emmaus was fourth at districts, a few ticks behind Meinhold. Reinhard is the top returner based on state finish, though; she was 47th at Hershey. Those two look to be the early favorites for the district title.

Others looking to get in the mix for high finishes include Southern Lehigh's Maura Lenhart, Emmaus' Isabela Lees, Parkland's Elena Wenger, and Southern Lehigh's Annefloor Fooij.

Team Preview

It was a dream 2020 season for the Emmaus girls in 2020. Emmaus rolled to the district title, scoring just 39 points to capture the district title by 19 points. At the state meet, Emmaus placed fifth in a very close battle with the rest of the state's best; they were just 9 points off second place. But Emmaus will have some retooling to do this season. Just Reinhard and Lees are back from last year's team. They will have to turn to some JV runners from last year's team if it wants a repeat, but a top two finish and a berth in the state meet is certainly still in the cards for this team.

Southern Lehigh will be looking to take the crown this fall. The Spartans were second last year, which normally would have qualified the team to the state meet, but due to the pandemic, only one team went. Southern Lehigh returns its full varsity squad from last year led by Meinhold and Lenhart.

Parkland, Liberty, and Northampton Area are among the teams that could make a run at the top two in the district this season, but will need to add some depth for the fall.
