Individuals Breakdown

It will be a wide open race for the top spot in District 2 Class AA this season. Holy Redeemer's Chris Hine, who won the last two district titles, has graduated, so we will see a new champion here.

Honesdale's Aidan LaTourette was third in the district last season, and is the top returner based on district finish. He was 76th at the state meet. Lake Lehman's Nick Hockenbury was fourth in the district, just behind LaTourette, but finished just ahead of him at the state meet, placing 71st at Hershey. Both boys are juniors this season.

But the top D2-AA finishers at the state meet were the Mid Valley boys. Gabe Pacyna, who was only 17th at the district meet, was 46th at the state meet, running his best race of the season at the end. Michael Novak was 60th and Vincenzo Iacavazzi was 66th. Truly, the race for the district title is up for grabs this season. It's going to be an interesting one to follow this fall.

Team Breakdown

Like the individual race, the team battle in D2-AA looks to be very wide open this fall. Mid Valley captured the district title last year and then placed seventh at the state meet. Pacyna, Novak, and Iacavazzi are all back this season as a solid returning trio. MV loses three seniors to graduation, and will want to retool a bit to chase a second straight district title.

But Holy Redeemer and Lake Lehman will make it close. Holy Redeemer loses Hine to graduation, but its next six runners from last year's team are all back. HR was second in the district last year and has the potential to move up despite losing its lowstick. Lake Lehman, the 2019 district champs, will be right in the mix this season. Six of its top seven are also back, led by a stroing No. 1 in Hockenbury. This team's strength will be in its pack this fall.

Dallas is also a team you can't count out. They bring back five of its top seven from last year and could be a factor for the top two, as well.
