Taleea Buxton, Colin Kravitz Win Performer Of The Week

The votes are in and this past week's Performers of the Week have been named!

Thanks to all that voted! This week's winners are Taleea Buxton of West Catholic and Colin Kravitz of North Pocono. Here's more on this week's winners below.

Girls Performer of the Week: Taleea Buxton (West Catholic)

Buxton transferred to West Catholic for her junior season after her former school, Bishop McDevitt, closed. She's wasting no time making a name for herself at her new school. She sits atop the state rankings in her signature event, the 60m hurdles with a season best of 8.79 (from Jan. 14).

She showed off her consistency in the high hurdles, running 8.80, just off her own PA No. 1 in the event at last week's DVGTVA meet at Lehigh University. She remains the only girl in PA to run under 9 seconds in the event this season. She's won the high hurdles at every state meet she's appeared in, winning the indoor 60m hurdles at the 2020 state meet (pre-pandemic) and then the AA 100m hurdles crown at the outdoor state meet this past spring. She's the favorite to win her second indoor state title in a few weeks.

Boys Performer of the Week: Colin Kravitz (North Pocono)

Kravitz's first indoor season is off to a rolling start. The junior went down south to Virginia to race some top-level competition at the East Coast Invitational at the Virginia Beach Sports Center, and he came away with a pair of strong performances.

Kravitz went 50.08 for fifth in the 400 meters. Then he ran 22.03 for fourth in the 200 meters to round out a big day in VA. Kravitz's 200m time was, at the time, a PA No. 1 and now ranks at PA No. 2 entering the weekend. He is also PA No. 5 in the 400m. The best may be yet to come for Kravitz, who has certainly emerged as a sprinter to watch over the next few weeks of the indoor season.
