West Catholic teammates Nicole Leach and Latavia Thomas were each named Nike Athletes of the Year for their performances in their specialty events, the 400 Hurdles and 800, respectively. Leach was 1st at the Penn Relays in a meet record, and also first at the US Junior Nationals. She set a junior class record of 52.19 in the 400 at the National Scholastic Indoor Championships in March at the New York Armory. Thomas was the anchor of West Catholic's USR sprint medley at the Adidas Outdoor Championships in June and first in the 800 at both Arcadia and the US Junior Nationals.
