When the crowd saw Drew Griffith lurking they got louder and louder.

Mere hours after running a 4:02.19 Mile to win a state title, he was on track again and closing fast.

In the Boys Distance Medley Relay, Butler handed the baton to Drew Griffith in seventh place. He would have just 1600-meters to make up a 12 second gap.

And he got to work.

With 400m to go, Griffith had brought the lead within four-seconds and moved up to fourth. Over the final quarter mile, Griffith closed in an absurd 58.0 and secured the unlikely win for Butler.

Hours after winning a state title, setting a state record, and running a US No. 14 All-Time Indoor Mile, Drew Griffith was on the podium again. This time he was there with Owen Dressler, Griffin Bauer and Zachary Slear, his Butler HS teammates.
