There's no place like home.

At Friday's 59th Annual Butler Invitational, Drew Griffith took advantage of his home turf and chased after the elusive sub-four minute full mile. After four exhilarating laps, Griffith came up just short and posted a 4:00.77 mile. He split 3:59.81 through 1600m en-route.

Griffith tied Newbury Park graduate Leo Young's mark in 2022 as the 26th fastest boy in high school history. His time is second in Pennsylvania History to only Gary Martin, who ran 3:57.89 at the HOKA Festival of Miles in 2022.

Griffith will now shift his attention to The Penn Relays presented by Toyota where he will make another attempt at the prolific mark and headline the Penn Relays boys mile championship.

That race is scheduled for Friday at 5:30 p.m. EST. Current weather forecasts are calling for a high of 64-degrees and partly cloudy conditions. Near-perfect racing conditions could lead to fast times all-around.
