PIAA District 2 AA Championship

Julia Koloski of Montrose won the long jump (17-07), the triple jump (38-08.50/PA#3), and the 100 meter dash (12.38). Lauren Ellsworth of Lackawanna Township ran 58.39 to win the 400 meter dash, Nikki Black of Northwest Area ran 46.04 to win the 300 meter hurdles, Ashlee Ward of Elmer L. Meyers cleared 5-4 to win the high jump and won the discus with a PA#9 throw of 127-05, Vanessa Munley of Riverside cleared 11 feet even to win the pole vault, and Kaitchen Dearborn of Blue Ridge won the javelin with a PA#6 mark of 147-08.

For the boys, Brandon Bednash of Valley View ran 1:57.62 to win the 800 meter run, Elk Lake High School ran 7:58.72 to win the 4x800 meter relay, Darian Twyman of G.A.R. Memorial won the 110 meter hurdles (15.26) and won the high jump (6-5), Al Tuzze of Lakeland threw 52-06.50 to win the shot put, Jared Conklin of Blue Ridge threw 155 feet even to win the discus, and Dominic Deantonio of Carbondale threw 176-06 to win the javelin.

PIAA District 6 AA Championships

Angel Piccirillo of Homer Center was a triple winner once again, winning the 1600 in 4:55.06, the 400 in 58.73, and the 800 in 2:15.54. Leah Anne Wirfel of Forest Hills ran 11:12.31 to win the 3200 meter run, Janae Dunchack of Northern Cambria was a four time winner on the day. She cleared 5-8 in the high jump to become the new state leader in 2010. She also won the long jump (18-00.00), the 100 (12.67) and 200 meter dashes (25.64). Central Cambria ran 9:34.81 to win the 4x800 meter relay, and Courtney Bridge of Ligonier Valley won the triple jump with a mark of 36-01.

For the boys, Nicholas Patton of Tyrone Area ran 22.21 to win the 200 meter dash, Kyle Younkin of Somerset Area ran 48.49 to win the 400 meter dash, Abram Nace of Lewistown Area ran 1:57.68 to win the 800 meter run, Alex Woodrow of Marion Center won the 1600 (4:30.31) and 3200 meter run (9:47.98), Zach Newton of Penn Cambria ran 39.79 to win the 300 meter hurdles, Luke Gallaher of Forest Hills cleared 6-7 to win the high jump and won the long jump with a mark of 22-02.25, Robbie Hopkins of Tyrone Area cleared 14 feet even to win the pole vault, Brian Leap of Bellwood won the triple jump with a mark of 45-01.50, Sharard Hankerson of Tyrone Area threw 52 feet even to win the shot put, Brice Beals of Bald Eagle Area threw 163-03 to win the discus, and Jackson Corcoran of Ligonier Valley threw 187-02 to win the javelin.

PIAA District 10 AAA Championship

Greg Garmon of McDowell ran 49.26 to win the 400 meter dash and ran 21.89 to win the 200 meter dash. Brandon Akins of Strong Vincent ran 11.06 to win the 100 meter dash. Cathedral Prep ran 42.95 to win the 4x100 meter relay, Cody Bupp of Warren Area ran 39.61 to win the 300 meter hurdles, Jacob Kildoo of Grove City Area ran 9:27.24 to win the 3200 meter run, John Dahlstrand of McDowell cleared 6-5 to win the high jump, Jermaine Thornton of East won the long jump with a mark of 21-11.50, Ben Koyack of Oil City threw 189-11 to win the javelin, and Pat Cochran of McDowell won the triple jump with a mark of 46-04.50.

For the girls, Laura Nientimp of McDowell won the 100 (12.58) and 200 meter dashes (26.05), Hana Casalnova of Grove City Area ran 58.55 to win the 400 meter dash, and set a meet record in the 800 with her time of 2:16.97. Paige Kassab of Meadville Area cleared 5-5 to win the high jump, Franki DiSalvo of McDowell cleared 11 feet even to win the pole vault, Morgyn Patterson of Strong Vincent won the triple jump with a mark of 36-10.25, and Chaykala Lindsey of Meadville Area threw 122 feet even to win the javelin.

PIAA District 11 AAA Championships

Liberty girls ran 9:35.68 to win the 4x800 meter relay. Amy Darlington of Liberty led seven girls in the 1600 meter run under the state qualifying standard, winning the race in a PA#10 time of 5:04.20. Dominique Best of William Allen ran 57.94 to win the 400 meter dash, won the long jump with a T-PA#2 mark of 19-01.50, and she ran a PA#9 time of 44.96 to win the 300 meter hurdles. Danielle Smith of Whitehall ran 25.67 to win the 200 meter dash, Amanda Faust of Emmaus ran 11:03.77 to win the 3200 meter run, Brooke Hamscher of Whitehall cleared 12 feet even to win the pole vault, Natasha McLaren of Stroudsburg cleared 5-3 to win the high jump and won the triple jump with a mark of 37-02.25.Samantha Fuss of Pocono Mountain West threw 119-09 to win the discus and Chelsea Hall of Northampton threw 122-05 to win the javelin.

For the boys, Kuwan Scott of Wilson Area became the new state leader in the 300 meter hurdles with his winning time of 37.56. He also won the 110 meter hurdles with a PA#10 time of 14.42. Andre Williams of Parkland won the 100 (11.02) and 200 meter dashes (22.10), Parkland ran a PA#3 time of 42.28 to win the 4x100 meter relay, Ben Henry of Saucon Valley ran 1:56.24 to win the 800 meter run, and Nathan Palmer of Freedom ran 9:41.26 to win the 3200 meter run. Jon Hendershot of Nazareth Area and Jarrod West of Liberty both cleared 6-7 to win the high jump, and Adam Phillippi of Saucon Valley and Andrew Beers of Whitehall both cleared 14-09 in the pole vault. Rico Goldstone of Parkland won the long jump with a mark of 22-09.25, Adam Bridgeforth of Nazareth Area won the triple jump with a mark of 44-11.75, Greg Pearson of Bangor Area threw 52-03.75 to win the shot put and threw 154-04 to win the discus. Tyler Rolshausen of Blue Mountain threw 192-03 to win the javelin.

PIAA District 12 AAA Championships

Tamisha Thomas of Archbishop Ryan ran 14.90 to win the 100 meter hurdles and ran 47.11 to win the 300 hurdles. Ce'aira Brown of Overbrook ran 57.70 to win the 400 meter dash, Kate Conville of Archbishop Wood ran 2:18.35 to win the 800 meter run, Kelly Hooven of St Hubert's won the long jump with a mark of 18 feet even, Anna McCloskey of Cardinal O'Hara won the shot put with a PA#7 mark of 41-01.50, and she won the discus with a mark of 115-06.

For the boys, Father Judge ran 7:58.61 to win the 4x800 meter relay, Brandon Thompson of Germantown ran a PA#5 time of 14.23 to win the 110 meter hurdles and ran 38.42 to win the 300 hurdles, Tom Kehl of Father Judge led four guys under 4:20 in the 1600 meter run with his PA#3 time of 4:15.96. Erick Brundidge of Northeast ran 48.70 to win the 400 meter dash, ran 1:57.68 to win the 800 meter run and his teammates ran 42.51 to win the 4x100 meter relay. Corey Brown of Cardinal O'Hara ran 21.71 to win the 200 meter dash and he led his 4x400 meter relay to victory with a time of 3:19.61. Donovan Morris of George Washington and Matthew Henderson of Germantown both cleared 6-5 in the high jump, Dominick Boseman of Edison threw 52-02.25 to win the shot put, and Chazz Wilks of Cardinal O'Hara threw 166-04.50 to win the discus.

PIAA District 5 AA Championships

Nicki Leach of Northern Bedford won the 100 (12.80), the 200 (26.66), and the 400 meter dashes (59.27). Alex Zanella of Everett Area ran 5:11.44 to win the 1600 meter run, and Kelly Vann of Conemaugh cleared 10-09 to win the pole vault.

For the boys, Ian Sayler of Berlin Broth won the 100 (11.21) and 200 meter dashes (23.02), David Burkett of Windber Area ran 39.55 to win the 300 meter hurdles, Zach Reed of Northern Bedford won the triple jump with a mark of 44-04.50, and Lucas Banks of McConnellsburg threw 156-07 to win the discus.

Northern Bedford

PIAA District 6 AAA Championships

Altoona's Brady Gehret became the new national leader in the 400 meter dash, running 46.39 to win the race. He added PA#1/T-US#10 200 meter performance with his winning time of 21.12. Gehret became PA#2 in the long jump with his mark of 23-06.50 and ran on their 4x400 meter relay that won in 3:21.59.

Alex Kenney of State College ran a PA#3 time of 10.63 to win the 100 meter dash, and ran a PA#6 time of 21.58 finishing 2nd in the 200 meter dash. Wade Endress of Altoona won the 1600 (4:23.31) and 800 meter runs (1:57.34), Alex Monroe of Indian Valley ran 9:30.61 to win the 3200 meter run, and Steven Ellis of State College ran 14.79 to win the 110 meter hurdles. Chris Carper added to his state lead in the javelin with a US#4 mark of 223-11. He also won the 300 meter hurdles in a PA#6 time of 38.58. Altoona ran a PA#10 time of 7:53.81 to win the 4x800 meter relay, and Joey Wagner of State College won the triple jump with a mark of 45-07.75.

For the girls, Chloe Schmidt of State College won the 1600 (5:12.39), the 800 (2:12.79), and was a member of State College's 9:36.12 4x800 and 4:05.89 4x400 meter relays. Kelly Davis of Altoona won the 100 (12.30) and 200 meter dashes (25.89). Nikki Kearns of Altoona ran 45.77 to win the 300 meter hurdles, Lysa Mealing of Altoona won the long jump with a mark of 17-09.50 and won the triple jump with a PA#6 mark of 38-04.75. Laura Loht of Indian Valley had a PA#3 throw of 154-11 to win the javelin.

Altoona Area

PIAA District 7 AAA Championships

Tori Pattera of Elizabeth Forward (Right in 2009 file photo by Don Rich from Baldwin Invitational) added ten inches to her personal best, became the new state leader, earned US#2 honors, earned PA all time #2 honors, and had the tenth best performance all time in the US for javelin with her winning mark of 162-09. Paterra also added a PA#4 performance of 41-10 to win the shot put.

Iman Wilkerson of Penn Hills (Left in photo by Doug Michaels) won the 100 with a PA#9 time of 12.09 and won the 200 meter dash in 24.67. Teammate Jordan Lee ran 56.29 and led all eight scorers into the state meet, Elise Farris of Hopewell ran a PA#4 time of 2:13.40 to win the 800 meter run, Margo Malone of North Hills ran a PA#5 time of 4:59.70 to win the 1600 meter run, Amber Valimont of Hempfield was 2nd with a PA#7 time of 5:00.29. Elaina Balouris of Hampton ran a PA#2 time of 10:43.90 to win the 3200 meter run. Taylor Doaty of Oakland Catholic ran 14.95 to win the 100 meter hurdles and ran a T-PA#10 time of 45.09 to win the 300 meter hurdles. Penn Hills ran a PA#2 time of 47.69 to win the 4x100 meter relay and ran a PA#3 time of 3:52.35 to win the 4x400 meter relay. North Allegheny led four teams under 9:30 in the 4x800 meter relay with their PA#2 time of 9:19.25. India McCoy of Ambridge Area cleared 5-6 to win the high jump, and Larissa Debich of Hempfield Area cleared 12 feet even to win the pole vault. Brittany Edwards of Baldwin won the long jump with a PA#5 jump of18-05.25 and won the triple jump with a PA#3 mark of 39-02. Rachel Serafin of Hempfield threw 131-02 to win the discus.

For the boys, Baldwin (7:47.61/PA#2) beat out Penn Hills (7:48.81) to win the 4x800 meter relay, Penn Hills ran a PA#3 time of 3:17.83 to win the 4x400 meter relay, Rad Gunzenhauser of Mount Lebanon (Right in photo by Doug Michaels) ran a PA#2 time of 9:07.33 to win the 3200 meter run. The race featured seven performances under 9:30, with Ryan Gil running a PA#3 time of 9:10.62, Joe Kush of North Hills had a PA#7 performance of 9:16.03, and Zach Hebda of North Hills running a PA#10 time of 9:20.32. Nick Gibson of Canon-McMillan ran a PA#4 time of 4:17.77 to win the 1600 meter run, Dennis Logan ran 1:54.70 to win the 800 meter run, Marc Funderlich of Mars Area ran 49.05 to win the 400 meter dash, PJ Blinn of Seneca Valley and Brandon Ifill of Penn Hills both ran 10.91 in the 100 meter dash. Ifill also added a win in the 200 with a T-PA#9 time of 21.89. Mike McClelland of Trinity cleared 6-7 to win the high jump, Justin Harold of Kisk Area and Mitch Codd of Seneca Valley both cleared 14-09 in the pole vault, and Richard Rouse of Penn Hills won the long jump (23 feet even/PA#4) and the triple jump (44-07.50). Jordan Paskorz of Hampton threw a PA#9 mark of 54-11 to win the shot put, Zach Filous of Kittanning threw 150-07 to win the discus, and Michael Belardia of Elizabeth Forward threw 195-05 to win the javelin.

PIAA District 1 AAA Championships

Arguably the deepest district in PA, their depth really showed in many events. For the girls, eight individuals or teams qualified for the state meet in ten different events! Sara Sargent of Pennsbury (Right in photo by Don Rich) set two district records, running a PA#1/US#14 time of 4:51.54 in the 1600 meter prelims to break Kim Gallagher's record of 4:54.1, and winning the final in 5:00.17. Before winning the 1600, she broke the district record in the 3200 with a PA#1/US#16 time of 10:33.80 to break the record of 10:37.55 by Donna Fidler of Norristown in 1995.

Leah Nugent of Abington (Left in photo by Don Rich) was also making her own headlines in the hurdles. She became the first girl in PA to break 14 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles with her state leading time and T-US#14 time of 13.92. She also won the 300 hurdles in a state leading time of 42.90.

Alicia Evans of Quakertown ran 55.53 to win the 400 meter dash, Lydia Ali of Radnor ran a PA#5 time of 11.96 to win the 100 meter dash, West Chester Henderson ran a PA#2 time of 9:16.60 to win the 4x800 meter relay, Abington ran 3:51.96 to win the 4x400 meter relay, and Cheltenham ran 48.27 to win the 4x100 meter relay. The field events featured Lauren Terstappen clearing 12 feet even to win the pole vault, and Jordan Matthews of Abington won the long jump (18-11.50) and the triple jump (37-09.25).

For the guys, the 4x800 meter relay was the deepest race of the day as all eight medaling teams qualified for the state champs, led by reigning state leader Central Bucks West in 7:50.59. Ptah Osayande of Strath Haven (Right in photo by Don Rich) was making noise in the hurdles, running 14.63 to win the 110 meter hurdles and a new state leading time of 37.99 in the 300 hurdles. Drew Magaha of Upper Moreland ran a PA#3 time of 4:16.49 to lead five guys under 4:20, Brandon Bennett-Green (48.01) and Matt Gilmore (48.16) of Cheltenham went 1-2 in the 400 meter dash, and Glen Burkhardt of Unionville ran 9:21.14 to win the 3200 meter run. Central Bucks South improved their PA#1 4x100 meter relay time with a winning performance of 42.12 and Abington improved their PA#2 time in the 4x400 meter relay with their winning time of 3:15.82.

Carlton Lavong of Methacton (Left in photo by Don Rich) was the lone double winner in the field events, winning the long jump with a district record mark of 24-04.75 and won the triple jump with a mark of 49 feet even. Marcus Blakely of Coatesville cleared 6-9 to win the high jump, Blake Davenport of Kennett threw a PA#2 mark of 57-01.50, Eric Masington of Bensalem became the new state leader in the discus with his winning mark of 178-01, Jim Budzinski of Holy Ghost Prep threw 193-02 to win the javelin, and Mick Coleman of William Tennent, Chris Williams of Strath Haven, and James Weiss of Quakertown all cleared 15 feet in the pole vault.

PIAA District 4 AA Championship

Kalyn Fisher of Lewisburg ran 2:15.95 to win the 800 meter run and was a member of Lewisburg's 4x800 meter relay (9:39.84) and 4x400 meter relay (3:58.56). Teammate Hannah Bowen ran 5:12.98 to win the 1600 meter run, Susan Learn of North Penn ran 11:23.90 to win the 3200 meter run, Regan Rogers broke through the pack of 5-6 high jumpers to become PA#2 with her winning mark of 5-7, and Elise Buffington of Lewisburg cleared 11-09 to win the pole vault. Lauren Ball of Bloomsburg won the long jump with a mark of 17-11.50, and teammate Jenna Wargo threw 119-05 to win the discus and threw 141-08 to win the javelin.

For the boys, Jarredd Gambrell of Athens Area ran 11.04 to win the 100 meter dash, won the long jump with a mark of 22-08.75, and won the triple jump with a mark of 47-07. Teammate Clay McCarty threw 52-06.75 to win the shot put, Holden Wallace of Danville Area threw 154-08 to win the discus, and Damon Yocum of Warrior Run threw 179-01 to win the javelin. Dylon Miller of Towanda cleared 15 feet even to win the pole vault, Kyle Pane of Athens Area ran 14.74 to win the 110 meter hurdles, and Matt Oldroyd of Troy ran 1:57.92 to win the 800 meter run.
