Chambersburg Boys put their scoring five in the top 20 overall and a spread of 53 seconds to win the team title by a wide margin. Their 59 points were 74 points better than runner up Northern York. Individual honors went to Ed Schrom with his
winning time of 16:21. For the girls, Chambersburg completed the team title sweep with six in the top 15 and a 55 second spread to earn a low score of 41 points to also defeat Northern York. Mackenzie Riford of Mercersburg won the individual title with a time of 20:30, four seconds better than runner up Lillie Brown of Boiling Springs. |

Altoona Area
Top ranked Altoona boys entertained their home crowd by winning their 3rd straight invitational meet. They had five in the top six to score 17 points and win the meet by 90 points. Wade Endress led the charge for Altoona, winning his final home cross country meet with a time of 16:04.
For the girls, Angel Piccirillo of Homer Center had her 2nd strong race in a row after her impressive runner up performance at PTXC 2. On this day, she won the race in a time of 18:54 to win 33 seconds. As for the team title, George Mason of Virginia won the team title over top AA ranked Central Cambria 49-84, despite Central Cambria having Kendall Seymour (2nd in 19:24) and Alyssa Brandeis (4th in 19:39) finish in front of George Mason's top runner. |

PA#2 North Allegheny boys crossed the Ohio border to win their 2nd invitational in a row, winning the D1 race with 37 points with a spread of 59 seconds. Ryan Gil (1st in 15:58) and Logan Steiner (2nd in 16:05) were the first two finishers for their squad. Cathedral Prep finished 7th in the same race with 269 points with Alex Simon finishing 35th in 17:22. In D2, Pine Richland was 8th with 309 points and were led by Thomas Reinhart's 42nd place finish in 17:48. In D3, Greensburg Salem was 14th with 390 points with Sean Schake finishing 55th with a time of 18:21.
For the girls, PA#2 North Allegheny also came away with their 2nd victory in a row, winning by a narrow 9 point margin over North Canton Hoover 92-101. North Allegheny had a 1-5 spread of an impressive 20 seconds! Eleni Mermigas led the charge with her 13th place finish in 19:49. In D2, Pine-Richland finished 3rd with 158 points led by a 15th place finish by Natalie Regan and her time of 20:16. In D3, Greensburg Salem finished 6th with 238 points and were led by a 9th place finish by Shaina Contic in a time of 20:30. |

![]() Prior to this meet, only eight girls had ever broken 19 minutes at the historic Philly course. Today, SIX girls broke 19 minutes with one even shattering the 18 minute barrier. Megan Venables of Highland, NJ broke the nine year course record of 18:26 by 47 seconds with her winning performance in the championship race of 17:39.4, becoming the first girl in the history of Belmont Plateau to break 18 minutes on the 5k layout. ![]() ![]() ![]() As for the team score, US#4 Tatnall (DE) held on for a 53-58 victory over PA's top team Pennsbury. PA#8 West Chester Henderson finished 3rd with 111 points, PA#3 CB East was 4th with 121 points, and PA#5 North Penn was 5th with 123 points.
In girls Division 1, Carlyn Evans of Downingtown West was PA's top finished with her 3rd place finish and time of 19:56. 1st place went to Emily Frydrych of St Mark's (DE) in 19:28.2. In girls Division II, Catie Skinner of Penn Charter ran 19:27.5 to win the individual crown. The team crown went to Villa Joseph Marie was the top PA team with their 2nd place finish of 98 points. BRIARWOOD INVITATIONAL GIRLS PREVIEW BY BILL COREN(STRATH HAVEN) CHAMPIONSHIP RACE---10 teams--Oakton(VA), Tatnall(DE), Padua(DE), Highland Regional(NJ), and 6 PA teams--Pennsbury, North Penn, CBEast, Notre Dame, WCHenderson, and Archbishop Wood. Tatnall was ranked pre-season #4 in the US--Pennsbury is clearly the best team in PA--Oakton recently finished 2nd to strong Charter School of Wilmington--CBEast has 3 outstanding runners--Every other team is tough as well--As for the individual title--Sara Sargent(PNSB) will be in a battle with Highland Regional's Venables (who was close to Sargent last year in the 3000 at Penn Relays) and NP's McGovern and Kinkead of CBEast--The TOP 20 in this race will be OUTSTANDING!!!
LARGE SCHOOL RACE--17 teams from PA, NJ, DE, MD, and NY---ST Marks(DE) and Kellenberg(NY) look like the favorites--3rd place is wide open
SMALL SCHOOL RACE--14 teams from PA, NJ, De, and NY---Pearl River(NY) seems to win this race every year!!! and this year will probably be no different

Zach Greth won the individual title with a time of 16:10 and his win was good enough to lead his team to a close 58-61 finish over Easton in the boys Varsity race. Greth's time was 19 seconds better than Easton's Bernard England.
For the girls, Honesdale won the team title by 14 points over Pleasant Valley 61-75. Honesdale placed three in the top eight to secure the victory. Pottsville's Paige Stoner set a new meet record with her winning time of 18:14.4, which was 43 seconds better than Exeter's Sarah Brzostek. |

PA#4 Downingtown East girls had little difficulty winning their 2nd straight invite of the season, scoring 20 points to win by 42. Katelyn Callaghan (1st in 18:38) led a 1-2-4-6-7 finish for her team.
For the boys, West Chester East defeated the host school Perkiomen Valley 31-44 despite Perkiomen Valley's Matt Dallago winning the race in 16:24. West Chester East had four in the top ten and used a spread of 42 seconds to secure the victory. |

Morgan Hoegel of Cranberry ran 17:41 to win the individual crown and overcome the Mercyhurst Prep duo of Paul Cancilla (17:41 2nd) and Shane Saginac (17:42 3rd). McKenna Spence won the girls individual title and complete the individual sweep for Cranberry. Her time of 20:15 was 15 seconds better than Dana Cerroni of Sharon.

AA PA#2 Elk Lake boys go 1-2-3 in winning the B/C/D varsity boys team title with 29 points. Luke Jones (17:48.2), Mike Bedell (17:59.1) and Jeff Horvah (18:16.2) were the first three overall finishers. The Elk Lake girls completed the team trophy sweep by beating the host school Elmira Free Academy 48-63. Maria Trowbridge led Elk Lake to victory with her 4th place finish in 21:42.5

Senior Alex Galli led Cedar Crest to the team title with 28 points, 18 up on Palmyra. His time of 16:11 was nine seconds better than runner-up Connor Strynkowski of Palmyra. Cedar Crest placed their scoring five in the top ten. In the girls race, Palmyra reversed the team scoring with Cedar Crest, besting their league foe 22 to 50. But Cedar Crest got the individual title with Haleigh Echard going 20:05, 23 second up on Palmyra's Mariah Ricci. Palmyra placed five in the top seven and seven in the top ten. |

Mountaineer Flatland Invitational Sullivan County placed three in the top five overall to win the team title 30-49 over Northern Potter. Kelby Mullen led the charge for Sullivan County winning the race in 17:37 for 5135 meters.
For the girls, sisters Violet and Susan Learn both ran 20:33 for a 1-2 finish for Mansfield. But Northern Potter put four in front of Mansfield 3rd to win the team title 31-43. |

Saegertown used a 1-2 finish with Nate Tallada winning the race in 16:52.1 to lead his team to a narrow two point victory over Fort Leboeuf 34-36. For the girls, Danielle Stanko won the individual title with a time of 20:25.3. Seneca won the team title over Fort Leboeuf 53-59.

AA PA#4 General McLane girls earned their first invitational win of the season with a big performance. Led by a 3rd place finish by Makenzie O'Connor (20:18), General McLane scored 114 points to win the AA girls varsity race by 77. Individual honors went to Nicole Hilton of South Fayette, who ran 19:32 for a 15 second victory over Bridgit Walers of Northgate.

For the boys, Oley Valley scored 22 points to cruise to the team title. The individual title went to Brendan Shearn of the host North Schuylkill with a time of 16:38. |

Gettysburg finished 4th in the Varsity B Boys race with 259 points behind the 18th place 17:58 by Dan Beegle and 19th place 17:59 by Thomas Buxton. The Gettysburg girls were 12th in the B Race with 307 points. Ellen Curley was their top finisher, taking 35th in 22:31.
