Not to take anything away from North Hills' Ian Fitzgerald, who captured the Tri-States Coaches' Association Invitational in 16:20, but he did beat favored Sam Bair of Shaler. Bair experienced breathing problems after the first mile, and faded. Mount Lebanon, behind the 3rd place finish of Jim O'Toole in 16:46, won the team title with 97 points. North Hills was 27 back. In the girls' race, Christine Taranto, West Allegheny, set a brisk early pace, and pulled away from the field to win in 19:17. Favored Hempfield senior Lauren Bricker was 8th. Mount Lebanon took the team win with 128 points behind the 13th place finish of Casey Depasquale in 20:36. Quaker Valley was 2nd, while North Allegheny was 3rd.
