For the first time in state history, we had our first sub 1:49 FAT clocking in the 800 meter run courtesy of Drew Magaha of
Upper Moreland. The Penn bound senior is on a tear this spring, looking like the Magaha who made headlines at Shippensburg
at the end of last season. Magaha is now US#1 in the event. The chase pack behind him is not doing so bad themselves, as
there are now six sub 1:55 performances at the half way point of the season. The 4x800 meter relay had another shake up at
the top, as the top four performances all came from last weekend. Chambersburg became the new state leader by .05 seconds
over Great Valley. Both are in the 7:53 range. Indoor champions Pennridge are PA#3 (7:55.61) with Cumberland Valley a full
second back. In the longer distances, Korey Replogle of Altoona ran a PA#2 time of 9:26.47 in the 3200 meter run at
Shippensburg. Connor Strynkowski of Palmyra and Dylan Mountain of Altoona also turned in sub 9:30 performances in the top
eight. Dan Jaskowak of Grove City turned in the fastest 1600 of the weekend, running 4:17.77 for PA#3 honors. The
Germantown Friends duo of Sami Aziz and Lyle Wistar also cracked the top eight.
In the sprints, we had the first sub 49 second performances in the 400 meter dash in either season. Alex Shisler of State
College ran a state leading 48.82 at Shippensburg to earn a tenth of a second advantage over 300 meter hurdle state leader
Eric Futch of Penn Wood. Futch also improved his 300 meter hurdles time and moved up to US#4 with a time of 37.15. High
hurdle leader Aaron Willett of Coatesville moved to PA#2 with a time of 37.57. Niager Mathis had the best 200 meter time of
the weekend with a PA#3 time of 21.87 at Abington. Ronnie Gillespie of Upper Perkiomen took a trip to New York and turned
in a performance of 10.85 in the 100 meters to earn PA#6 honors. The 4x100 meter relay had three different state leaders,
with Neshaminy earning the last laugh with a state leading 42.16 at the Central Bucks Relays. All of the top eight
performances in the 4x100 meter relay have come in the past two weekends. Meanwhile, the top six in the 4x400 meter relay
all came from this past weekend, including three from the Central Bucks Relays. Pennridge won that meet with a state
leading time of 3:20.44, defeating indoor champions Penn Wood (PA#2 3:21.07) and Pennsbury (PA#4 3:21.46). The top six are
all under 3:22.
In the field events, there's a brand new top two in the long jump. John Santangelo of Shikellamy won the event at the Lock
Haven Bald Eagle Invite with a mark of 23-4.75. At East Stroudsburg's Red and Black Invitational, Jarrel Bobb of East
Stroudsburg North jumped 23-3 to earn PA#2 honors. Patrick Anderson of Kane Area improved his lead in the pole vault with a
clearance of 16-4.75. In the throws, Matt Bell of Hickory threw a PA#3 mark of 59-5.50 to win the shot put at his home
invitational. Billy Stanley of South Park improved his javelin season best with a throw of 221-3, good enough for US#2.
