10/17 - Two families (four twins) take half the top eight spots in Ephrata

Lebanon-Lancaster League

Two families (four twins) take half the top eight spots in Ephrata at the Lebanon-Lancaster Championships. Pat Clark, Cedar Crest, is returning to form after some early season illness. That's the good news for Cedar Crest. The bad news was there's a new set of twins on the scene (Pat's twin Ben is also on the team) - the Millers of Manheim Township. And it was frosh star Craig who held off the veteran by five seconds with his winning 16:36.3. In the battle between Brad (Miller) and Ben (Clark), it was the younger who prevailed, getting 6th in 17:09.8 over Ben's 17:18.2 8th place finish. Manheim Township prevailed by just two over Cedar Crest, but it was Solanco, behind the 5th place 17:07.7 of Derek Jennings, that took the boys title by eight points. In the girls' race, Emily Kruger, Lampeter-Strasburg, had been winning invitationals this fall, but ran into Lancaster Mennonite sophomore Kristen Groff and her 19:36.9. Kruger was 16 seconds back. Ephrata's Betsy Sensenig finished 3rd in 20:18.6 to lead her team to the league title, over 2nd place Lampeter-Strasburg.
