9/1 - Andy Weilacher runs 15:41 to take the win

McDowell Invitational

Defending state AA champ Andy Weilacher of Eisenhower, a senior, took the McDowell Invitational in Erie on Saturday with a fast early season time of 15:42 5K on a sunny, pleasant morning with temps in the 60's. And this year, his Eisenhower team is with him, as they took the team title by 31 points over Warren. Their top three runners bunched in the top ten. On the girls side, host McDowell easily took Butler by 63 points. Heather Wilmoth and Rachel Tutmaher, both of Eisenhower, went one-two in 19:24 and 20:22. McDowell went 3-5-7-11-14 for the win with 40 points. Results courtesy of Dennis Muller.

McDowell's course is run on an old corn field with many loops and criss crosses. It is 5k. The course starts out on a slight incline and then levels off. It is a generally flat course with severe inclines. Nothing in the lines of major hills but enough that you have to work to get up them - they can make the course a challenge if you are not in shape for them.
