Salesianum Invitational
Hatboro-Horsham's Janine Ricci beat some great competition, including St. Hubert's star Amy Kelly, and posted the fastest time of the hot humid day in the Large Schools race at the difficult Salesianum (DE) Invitational at Brandywine Creek Park. Ricci's 20:11 was :36 better than Kelly. But North Penn, behind Cheryl Dingman's 4th place 21:16 took the team title over Ricci's squad by a narrow two points, 57-59. The Upper Merion girls were 2nd in the Medium Schools race, while Westtown's Katie McKinstry took the Small Schools race in 20:53 in a race won by Episcopal Academy behind Waldron's 4th place 22:26. In boys competition, Holy Ghost Prep took the Small Schools race behind Bill Ference's 17:32 1st place. In the Medium School's race, Upper Moreland's Tom Holzwarth was 1st in 17:29, just four seconds up on Upper Merion's Jon Gries. And in the boys' Large Schools race, LaSalle's Joe Fedorowicz was 2nd in 16:42, while his team was also 2nd, just four points behind NJ's Toms River North.
