9/22 - Despite a lower-than-expected finish from senior Stephanie Madia, North Allegheny wins

Carlisle Invitational

1999 AAA state champ, and 2001 runner-up North Allegheny, came east to face the defending AA state champ Wyomissing girls, and came out with a narrow win (145-152), despite a lower-than-expected finish from senior Stephanie Madia. The race was won comfortably by Footlocker alternate Angie Saterstad of Hershey in 18:19.70. Wyomissing's Debbie Huss was second in 19:03.50. North Allegheny soph Amy Ruffalo was the top finisher for the winning team, getting third over Debbie's twin, Amy, by five seconds in 19:04.90. Stephanie Madia was 8th in 19:31.20. On the boys side, Cumberland Valley took the title over second place Altoona by 50. Liberty's Dorian McDonald turned the tables on Emmaus' Joel Thomas from last week's Bulldog Invitational at Northern Lehigh, taking the win with a 16:00.80 by 12 seconds.
