10/20 - Susquehanna Valley Conference meet serves as a great warm-up for District 4 Championships

Susquehanna Valley Conference Championships

On a nearly perfect day for racing, the Susquehanna Valley Conference meet at Shikellamy was the ideal warm-up for the District 4 Championships. The course, with it;s many turns and narrow paths, is deceptively tough despite nearly flat terrain. In the boys race,Shikellamy showed it's superior team strength and solid grouping (1:06 1-5) in running away with the team title.Danville proved that it would be a factor in the AA district meet with it's solid runner-up spot. The race featured a terrific dual between Lewisburg's sophomore sensation Chris Spooner and Shikellamy's great senior Jadrian Deibler. The duo ran nearly side by side through the first 2 miles. At that point Spooner began pulling away, eventually winning by 10 seconds. On the girl's side, Williamsport placed 4 runners in the top 15 with a 1-4 of only 57 seconds that enabled them to run away from the field. Danville established themselves as a team to watch in the upcoming District 4 AA meet. Indivually, Lewisburg's Ashleigh Wetzel set the pace early only to find Middleberg's Amber Hackenberg close by. Eventually Wetzel's strong front running was too much and she won by 11seconds.
