PIAA District 7 Championships
Despite wind and a defending state champ for competition, Baldwin's Dan Mazzocco continued his quest, and his winning ways, taking the AAA WPIAL (District 7) Championship. But that defending state champ, Shawn Cavanaugh, of Mount Lebanon, is leading quite a team. With his 3rd place finish, they continued their win streak by just three points of a Sam Bair led Shaler team. Mount Lebanon ran into the North Allegheny juggernaut, losing by nine points. Those nine points most clearly came from front-runner Stephanie Madia, who was second to Hempfield's Lauren Bricker, 19:15, by, you guessed it, nine seconds. In AA, Quaker Valley dominated both the boys and girls races, by wide margins. Maxine Markfield won for the top team, while Zach Thomas and Adam Bernis went 2-3 to lead their win.
