Mid-East Regional Championships
Rob Robertson of Coatesville, and Stephanie Madia of North Allegheny, led the PA all-senior, all-star teams in the six-state field at the Mid-East Regional Championships in western Ohio. Robertson's 3rd place 15:22 was 13 seconds off the winning pace. State Champ Dan Mazzocco, Baldwin, was just 7 seconds back from Robertson to get 7th in 15:29. Also scoring for the PA boys were Mike Didio, Council Rock, 21st in 15:45, Shawn Cavanaugh, Mt. Lebanon, 26th in 15:52, and Corey Rogers, Pottsgrove, 28th in 15:54. The boys finished 4th as a team.
Madia's 18:12 was good for 4th in the strong field, just 12 seconds out of first. Coatesville's Kelly O'Connell was 11th with an 18:26. Charity Learn, Mansfield, was 3rd for PA in 18:51, getting 22nd overall. Running an 18:57 for 30th place, was Jessica Perry of Peters Township, while Villa Maria's Kim Malcolm was the final scorer for PA, finishing 33rd in 19:05. The girls finished 5th as a team.
Robertson and Mazzocco, along with Eisenhower's Andy Weilacher, are top contenders for the Foot Locker Championships as they head off to NY next Saturday for the Regional qualifers. They'll be joined by Dorian McDonald, Corey Rogers, Didio, and Joel Thomas. Madia, Malcolm and Learn will be joined by Angie Saterstad, Jessica Cickay, Jesi Christiansen, Stacey Muchel, Katie Ewart, Paula Giguuere, Jessie Yester, and Amy Huss as they run the Northeast Foot Lockers next Saturday in NYC.
