5/5: 33rd Adidas Baldwin Invitational @ Baldwin HS: All it took was a little good weather, a season of training, and great competition to pull out some incredible performances in everything from the sprints, to distance and in the field. Coming off his great 3000 at the Penn Relays, Ellwood City's Jake Walker nearly got his 4:12 goal with a 4:13.26 1600, narrowly holding off Unionville's Paul Springer, 2nd in 4:13.33. But Walker also ran to a 9:16.35 in the 3200. Last word was he would focus on the 3200 at states. Penn Hills' Katelyn Grimm also pulled a distance double, going 5:07:28 and 10:57.82. 5/5: West Central Coaches Meet @ Altoona HS: GIRLS: Westmont Hilltop junior Karlee McQuillen may have set a new PA all-time best with the new Javelin (2002) with her throw of 161-05 on Friday, May 5th at the West Central Coaches Meet in Altoona. The old mark was 159-07 by Bald Eagle Area's Angela Hoover, thrown in the same meet in 2003. The battle between Altoona's Rachel Gehret and Bradford's Erin Hannon has a possible spoiler in the middle. It's Kristin Brandt of Central Mountain, a sophomore who obviously has some ideas (and talent) of her own. In the Long Jump, she finished 3rd at 17-04 behind Gehret and Hannon who leapt 18-04 and 17-09.50 , respectively. In the Triple Jump, Brandt leapt 38-03, which was good for 2nd behind Hannon's big 40-footer, but ahead of Gehret's 37-03.50. BOYS: Altoona's AJ Alexander is making a sophomore statement. He simply stepped in as a veteran senior and walked off with three golds, taking the 100 in 10.84, the 200 in 22.11, and the Long Jump, going 21-09.50. But in AA, it was the senior experience of Westmont Hilltop's Brad Kanuch in the sprints that stole the day, as he was timed in 10.79 and 21.90.

5/5-6: 77th Annual Shaner Meet @ Wyomissing HS: GIRLS: Jazmin Hunt, Reading 14.77 100H (5-02 HJ 2nd/16-00.25 LJ 4th); Lily Otu, Governor Mifflin, 18-00.75 LJ; BOYS: Jason Weller, Boyertown, 9:16.25 3200; Jason Inzana Daniel Boone, 15-01.00 PV.

5/5-6: DELCO Boys Outdoor Championships @ Penncrest HS: HIGHLIGHTS: Carrington Queen, Chichester, 13.8 100H; Dominique Asbury, Upper Darby, 6-9 HJ; SP: Robert Williams, Glen Mills, 58-5 ¾, teammate Nathan Stewart, 57-3 ¾.

5/5-6: DELCO Girls Outdoor Championships @ Haverford HS: HIGHLIGHTS: Lisa Vienneau, Strath Haven, 4:57.26 1600 (70/2:24.5/3:40.0/4:56.3), 11:06.75 3200, both meet records; Archbishop Prendergast 9:24.71, Cardinal O'Hara 9:26.91 4x800; Karen Shump 42-05.50 SP (meet record), 133-00 DT.

5/6: 19th Lower Merion Invitational @ Lower Merion HS: Watch those North Penn relays fly... the girls won the 4x400 in 3:59.33 and the 4x800 in 9:30.38. The boys pulled off the same double, going 3:20.64 and 7:57.98, and for good measure, added a 43.42 win in the 4x100. Bishop Shanahan's Caitlin Fairbairn set a meet record by clearing 11-09 in the Pole Vault. Conestoga's Emily Moles tied a meet record in the High Jump at 5-05.

5/6: Blue Streak Relays @ Manheim Township HS: GIRLS: The Garden Spot and Milton Hershey girls pretty much split the sprint relays. Garden Spot took the 4x200 in 1:45.5, and the Shuttle Hurdles in 1:07.2, while Milton Hershey captured the 4x100 in 50.0 and the 4x400 in 4:04.9. BOYS: Jared Odirk, Lebanon, 55-01.75 SP; Manheim Township 18:09.2 DMR and 8:13.4 with Brad Miller.

5/6: Cedar Cliff Relays @ Cedar Cliff HS: Cedar Cliff ran a quick Sprint Medley, going 4:13.9 to beat Central Dauphin East, 2nd in 4: 14.6. The Cumberland Valley girls ran 12:27.2 to win the Distance Medley Relay. Cumberland Valley's boys cruised to a 3:22.8 4x400.

5/6: Neshaminy Invitational @ Neshaminy HS: Reggie Carter, the Bensalem speedster, has range. His 10.80 100 was an easy winner. Neshaminy's Chad Sargeant won the 200 in 22.58 and the 400 in 50.37. Neshaminy took the 4x100 and 4x400 in quick times of 43.40 and 3:24.55. Jason Rebuck, William Tennent, was a double winner, capturing the Discus with a 162-05 throw and the Shot Put at 50-03.25.
