Regan Rome of Dallas was the top PA girl and the 4th Northeast girl in the Foot Locker Championship race, finishing 19th overall in 18:03.8. She was as high as 17th with 1000 meters to go.
Kennedy Weisner of Elk County Catholic ran 18:59.2 to finish 37th.
In the boys race, Max Norris of Harriton was the top finisher for PA and the 2nd best finisher out of the ten Northeast Regional runners with a 17th place finish in 15:38.9, just two spots off of All American status. Brendan Shearn of North Schuylkill finished very close to Norris in 21th with a time of 15:42.
Austin Pondel of Corry Area finished 32nd in 15:58.3 and Brent Kennedy of Kiski Area ran 16:04.2 to finish 34th
It is a record four boys to qualify for the Foot Locker Nationals since its inception in 1979. The total of six qualifiers in one year was met twice - in 1989 and in 2007. There have been 47 PA Girls qualifiers, and 45 for the boys, including 2012.
Methacton grad Ryann Krais set an indoor Pethathlon PR at her home invitational with 4159 points. Her events included a 2;13.34 800, 8.67 60 meter hurdles, 5-9 high jump, 18-4 long jump, and 37-4.5 in the shot put. She was 5th indoor in NCAA's last year.
Brand new season, brand new track, same old story in the DVG indoor series, as the first meet of the season will filled with great opening season performances! Emma Keenan of Gwynedd Mercy Academy came very close to breaking the all time DVGTCA record in the 1000 meter run, winning the race in 3:01.39. The record is 3:00.6 set in 2008. 2012 60 meter dash champion Jody Ann-Evans of Quakertown continued her unbeaten run in the event with a winning time of 7.79. Kate Scott of Council Rock North ran 10:40.56 to win the 3000 meter run. In the field events, 2012 indoor high jump state champion Megan McCloskey of Germantown Academy cleared 5-6 to win the high jump. Brooke Lillis of Downingtown East cleared 10-9 to win the pole vault. Taylor Hojnacki of Central Bucks South won the shot put by over 2 feet with a mark of 38-7. In the relays, the top six teams ran state qualifying times in the 4x800 meter relay led by a 9:52.5 performance from Downingtown East. Penn Wood ran 4:05.38 to win the 4x400 meter relay. Springside held off 2012 champions Pennridge to win the 4x200 meter relay in 1:48.34.
Two distance duals in division 1 highlighted the debut of high school indoor track and field at the newly renovated Lehigh University Rauch Fieldhouse! In the 800 meter run, Jeffrey Wiseman of Council Rock South held off Brad Rivera of Bensalem to win the race. Both dipped under 1:59, with Wiseman winning in 1:58.58. In the 3000 meter run, Jack Macauley of North Penn held off Chris Berry of Central Bucks West. Both ran under 9:01 with Macauley clinching a state qualifying berth in 9:00.14. One of last year's top jumpers made a big start to his senior season. Cody Minnig of Neshaminy won the long jump with a big mark of 22-8.50. Chris Spadaro of Council Rock South won the triple jump with a mark of 44-6.75.
In division 2, Todd Townsend of Neumann Goretti ran a quick 8.14 in the prelims of the 60 meter hurdles and ran 8.25 to win the finals. Dan Savage of Cardinal O'Hara carried his cross country fitness straight onto the track and won the mile with a time of 4:30.16. Teammate Lamont Veal won the 60 meter dash in 7.15. Penn Charter ran 11:03.10 to win the distance medley relay.
