The boys side produced some new state leaders on the first week of 2013 with some familiar faces.
Lasalle's two big stars Tom Coyle and Andrew Stone made their indoor season debuts on Wednesday at Haverford and finished 1-2 in the mile state list with Coyle running 4:23.49 and Stone running 4:23.92. Tony Russell of West Chester Henderson also made his debut and made the mile top 3 on Monday with a time of 4:24.53 at the Chester County Champs. In the 800, Brad Rivera of Bensalem took the state lead at the Hispainc Games with a solid US#4 1:55.13. John Lewis of Cheltenham moved up to PA#2 with a time of 1:57.34 from the same meet.
In the 400 meter dash, the top four performances all came from the Hispanic Games led by a US#4 48.68 performance from Malik Jones of Roman Catholic. Niager Mathis of Swenson (49.13), Elijah Qhyle of Bensalem (49.39) and Gabriell Johnson of Roman Catholic (51.13) round out the top four. Jones also took the state lead in the 200 meter dash with a US#9 time of 22.18.
In the relays, Cheltenham took the state lead in the 4x200 meter relay over previous leader Norristown with a US#4 time of 1:30.79. Bot teams are under 1:31 for the season. Penn Wood improved their state leading mark in the 4x400 meter relay with a US#3 time of 3:22.82. Bensalem joined the national top ten behind Penn Wood with a PA#2 and a US#7 time of 3:25.49. Lasalle cruised to victory in the distance medley relay at Lehigh with a US#6 time of 10:33.91, the only team from PA inside the national top 20!
In the field events, Tim Moses of Palmyra improved on his state leading mark by 2 inches with a US#2 mark of 16-2. Ryan Pierson of Spring Ford made the state top 3 on Monday night with a T-PA#2 mark of 14 feet. Luke Persichetti of Lasalle soared up to PA#3 in the shot put on Saturday with a mark of 55-1.50. Cheltenham's Kyree Willis-Lear had a state top 3 performance in the triple jump at the Hispanic Games with a mark of 44-11.50.
