5/28: West Catholic girls return to top of PCL. Bonner repeats for 2nd title in 4 decades.

The West Catholic girls team was in another thriller with Cardinal O\'Hara, with West Catholic dominating the sprints, and O\'Hara piling up points in the Mile and 3200. And after taking 40 years to win another Catholic League crown, Monsignor Bonner repeated, but it was by the narrowest of margins.

Latavia Thomas, Kneshia Sheard, and Simone Carter were the key points machines for West Catholic. Thomas won the 400 Hurdles in 1:01.35, where Sheard took 2nd in 1:04.22. Thomas also captured the 800, going 2:13.81. Sheard took two individual titles, running 57.51 in the 400, and 15.45 in the 100 Hurdles. Carter was the 100 meter champ at 12.31, where Sheard took 2nd in 12.34. Carter added the 200 title in 24.92. Teammate Christiana Taylor was 3rd in 26.12. And West Catholic had 1st place points in the 4x400 with a 4:02.01, and 2nd place points in the 4x100, going 48.79, being edged by just .02 by Cardinal O\'Hara, whose 48.77 was a meet record. O\'Hara took the top four spots in the 3200 behind Beth Kelly\'s 11:32.80, who was followed by Katie Kelly, Caroline Grant, and Katie McShay. Beth Kelly also won the Mile in a strong 5:07.88. The final score was 139-120, West Catholic. Hallahan\'s Shanae Thomas won the Long Jump at 17-01.75, the Triple Jump at 37-06, and took 3rd in the 100 with her 12.61. Archbishop Wood\'s Julia Dougherty set a meet record with a Javelin toss of 134-10.

It was a repeat for Monsignor Bonner following their 40-year drought-ender in 2005. The final tally of 94-92.50 over LaSalle was as close as it looks. Bonner had the advantage in points in the field events, with LaSalle taking their chunks in the distance events. Bonner went 3-4-5 in the Shot Put behind Matt Lucci\'s 50-02. Lucci also took 4th in the Discus, while Shawn Richey was 2nd in the High Jump. Mike Tomasco won the Long Jump with a leap of 21-06.75, and contributed a 3rd in the Triple Jump. John Hayes was 5th in the Long Jump for Bonner. Advantage Bonner, 40-24. LaSalle\'s Bob McCullough and Pat Jeffers contributed individual points by going 9:37.98 and 9:45.95, respectively, in the 3200. Jeffers also took 4th in the Mile, going 4:26.87. Freshman Phil Wood took 3rd in the Mile in 4:25.60 and 6th in the 3200 in 9:55.83 for LaSalle. Bonner\'s Andy Ward ran 1:59.31 to hold off O\'Hara senior Greg Thomas in the 800. Thomas did win the Mile in 4:21.13. LaSalle did capture the 4x400 in 3:28.13, but Bonner held for 3rd place points, going 3:29.60. Archbishop Wood\'s Chris Lorditch, just a junior, smoked a 48.30 400-22.14 200 double. And Archbishop Ryan swept the top three spots in the Pole Vault behind the 14-06 effort by Kevin Breen.
