North Penn's Steve Craig was thrilled with the team championship. After all, that was their main goal for the season and the meet. But individually, he and 4x800 teammate Dan Michael wanted to go one-two in the open 800. Those hopes were dashed when a runner went out "like he was in a 100 meter dash" according to Craig. "We got out just past the 100 meter mark, he slows down, everybody slows down, jams up. I heard Dan (Michael) make a noise and looked around and he was down. I slowed down because I thought they would stop it, but they didn't." He didn't stop, and almost pulled off a come-from-behind win. Ultimately the runner was DQ'ed. According to a competitor who runs against the Manheim Township runner and who was in the race, there was nothing intentional. "He's a good runner and a good guy. I don't know what happened. I'm surprised they didn't stop it."
