Meet Information
Dear Coach or Athletic Director:
The Johnsonburg Track Boosters are sponsoring the 29th Annual Junior High Track Invitational for 7th and 8th grade students. The meet will be held at the Johnsonburg Area High School track (an all-weather track surface) on Saturday, April 30, 2016 beginning at 10 a.m. There will be a $2 charge for students and $4 charge for spectators. A coaches meeting will be held at 9:15 a.m. 1/8 spikes are permitted for the invitational. Please RSVP to Dan Carnovale, Jr. High Track Coach before 4/20/16.
The Invitational welcomes one student or one hundred students from each school. All participants must be accompanied by a coach, teacher, parent or some other responsible adult. A concession stand will be open throughout the day. Invitational t-shirts will also be available to purchase.
Each athlete may compete in four events. Four entries per event are permitted from one team/school. Two relays may be entered (one for scoring and one for exhibition). The following events will be offered:
3200 M Relay 100 M Dash 1600 M Run 400 M Dash
400 M Relay 800 M Run 200 M Dash 3200 M Run
1600 M Relay High Jump Triple Jump Long Jump
Shot Put (6 lbs / 8 lbs, 13 oz) Discus (1 kg for each)
Pole Vault 100 M Hurdles/110 M Hurdles (33/36)
300 M Hurdles (30/33)
For safety reasons, we will NOT be conducting the javelin throw at this invitational.
We often have more than 6 preliminary heats for the events with finals so we will advance 6 athletes on time only, NOT according to places in heats. We will have preliminaries in the 100 M and 100/110 M hurdles (top 6 times advance). PIAA officials will run the meet and enforce all rules, including sportsmanship. Rules will be applied for fairness for all athletes.
Boys and girls 1st place team trophies will be presented as well as boys and girls track and field MVP plaques. Ribbons will be given to the top six places in each event. All athletes that place 1st in an event will receive a T-shirt
The registration fee for each athlete competing is $4. The team fee (over 25 athletes) for girls is $100 and boys is $100. Checks should be made payable to Johnsonburg Track Boosters. Checks can be sent in advance to Dan Carnovale, Jr. High Track Coach, 213 Summerfield Lane, Wilcox, PA 15870 or given to the meet director before the start of the meet. Hope to see you on April 30th.
