2024 WPIAL Team Semifinal @ South Fayette
Start time for the meet with be 2:30pm with a coaches' meeting to be held at approximately 2:00pm.
GIRLS - Belle Vernon, Mt. Lebanon, Oakland Catholic, South Fayette
BOYS - Elizabeth Forward, Mt. Lebanon, New Castle, Penn Trafford
Enter any/all athletes that might even have a CHANCE of competing in an event the day of the meet. There is no downside to entering more athletes than you intend to declare for the event at the time of competition.
Seeding marks are NOT required to be entered since seeding for priority lanes/positions will be done on a rotating basis using the random draw established at the Coaches' Meeting.
At the start of each event, teams will declare up to 3 athletes/event and 1 relay team. For field events, athletes will declare for an event upon checking in for that event. Athletes can only participate in up to 4 events (including relays).
In the HJ and PV, the event will conclude once a winner is declared. Competitors will not continue to jump/vault for height. In the event of a tie for first place in the HJ or PV, athletes will be asked independently if they wish to continue with a jump-off for first place points.
All events will be conducted separately (girls followed by boys for all track events).
For all laned events, the fastest 2 runners from each school will compete in the first heat, however, no runner will compete in a heat by themselves.
The team that advances to the Team Final will be determined by head-to-head competition between teams. In the event of a tie, the tie-breakers are as follows:
- # of disqualifications/ejections on the day.
- Total # of points on the day against all schools
- Greater # of 1st place winners (including relays)
- Greater # of 2nd place winners (excluding relays)
- Greater # of 3rd place winners (excluding relays)
